Hey guys, welcome to another episode of Ross Draws. Earlier this year I made an episode redrawing one of your submitted drawings and It became my most popular video. There were a lot of requests to make another one. So that’s why we’re here today. I asked you guys to submit a drawing or photo, and this was the winner. Oh! This lovely drawing comes from CJ, who is 13 years old. She’s a female and her Instagram handle is Sakai dot art. Without further ado Let’s get started. Ross Draws Witch Girl. Yeah, so I have some time to prepare. This is what i came up with. This is my interpretation of The Witch girl. It’s promising and I’m excited to see what I can come up with. I’m gonna start adding a gradient, just to have some sort of color. Trying to go for a nice read, nice shapes, nice break up. I’m just gonna work on it and I’ll check back soon. Hey guys, welcome back. This is the progress of our Witch Girl so far. Let me show you guys side by side Capturing more of the essence and the colors especially. And before we go any further CJ brings some facts about her own character, so let’s read them. Her name Is Rose, she’s 17 Years old, she’s a Witch. Likes. friends, books, parties animals, the color pink and food. Dislikes. Any storms, bugs, mean people, boring and serious people, and onions. It’s looking pretty solid, but maybe we can incorporate some references for the legs. What should I type? Model crossed legs. Look at all these. This is a family show by the way. Oh my god. What on Earth is going on here. This is not the right reference. This one’s pretty good. We can totally work with that. So I’m gonna try my best to try to understand what’s going on here and replicate it. And so this is before and after reference Never be afraid of using reference. Find the right one that works for you. Study and mimic what you need from it. Looking pretty good so far so I’m just gonna jump back on it and I’ll check back soon. This is the progress of our Witch Girl so far. Here are some compositional tricks I am thinking about. I’m trying to lead the gesture curve in really nicely and we get to the head. This focal point, I’m trying to highlight it with this shape of the ellipse. There’s this other curve leading into the whole point and then I’m gonna contrast that with this straight line. We also have nice simplicity over here and then lots of complexity on this side? I feel like an owl would be perfect for this illustration, so I’m gonna add an owl right here. Soft glow around it. And now we have our spirit owl. Really relates to the scene and adds a lot of life to it. I”m gonna show you real quick, how to add this really nice pleating effect. I have this brush that looks something like this. Put this on the lining of the skirt. We’re gonna erase one side. So before and after. Before, and after. Rose, our Witch girl is almost complete. I’m gonna wrap her up and I’ll check back soon. yo Witch Girl! It’s color dodge time. Aw man, here we go, here we go. Milo, let’s fly! Watch out Milo! Go Milo, go. Hey guys, welcome back.
